South Plains Electric Cooperative’s Operation Round Up Board of Directors held a meeting in October 2022 where they voted to send 39 local volunteer fire departments each a check for $1,000. A total of $39,000 was donated to the departments that serve SPEC members. This was the second donation they made in 2022, which amounted to a grand total of $78,000. Ransom Canyon Volunteer Fire Department was among the local VFDs that received a grant.

Ransom Canyon VFD has done a great deal of fundraising efforts over the past year to bring their department up to date. With the help of SPEC, Lubbock County, and the tireless work from the many Ransom Canyon volunteers, the VFD was able to purchase much needed equipment including a breathable air refill station which is used for refilling the air bottles used when fighting fires.
