The Board of Directors is committed to serving you.

As the utility industry enters an area of change, it is critically important that we hear your voice. Through active engagement and participation, the Co-op can ensure it is leading in a direction the members will want to follow.

In addition to ensuring the Co-op serves in the best interests of its members, the board is committed to keeping our local communities vibrant. Being a Co-op board member requires a real commitment of time and effort and an attitude of being a servant leader, meaning board members should want to engage and make a real contribution to the membership and community.

Rynn Truett - District 3 Nominee

Rynn Truett, from Idalou, graduated Idalou High School and is a graduate of Texas Tech University with a bachelor of science in human sciences. He is semi-retired after farming for 38 years. Rynn is married to Jane, and they have two sons and daughters-in-law. Rynn has served on the South Plains Electric Cooperative Board for nine years and is a Credentialed Cooperative Director as certified by NRECA. He currently serves as Assistant Secretary-Treasurer of the Board. Additionally, Rynn has served on the Cooperative Member Services Board, the High Plains Underground Water District Board and the Idalou School Board. He has also served on committees for the High Plains Underground Water District, the F.S.A. County Committee, Lubbock County Farm Bureau and the Idalou Stock Show Committee. The Truetts are members of the Idalou First Baptist Church.

Bobby Richey - District 5 Nominee

Bobby Richey, from Wolfforth, is a Seminole High School graduate. He has been farming in the Wolfforth area since 1960. Bobby is married to Anne, and they have one son and one grandson. Bobby has served on the South Plains Electric Cooperative Board for 42 years. He served as Assistant Secretary-Treasurer for 28 years, as Secretary-Treasurer for six years, and as President for six years. In addition to his Co-op service, Bobby served on the Frenship School Board for 13 years and was a member of the Lubbock Police Advisory Board. He was also an officer for the Young Farmers organization for two years. The Richeys are members of the First United Methodist Church in Wolfforth.

Sandy Kimball - District 7 Nominee

Sandy Kimball, from Ransom Canyon, graduated from Stratford High School and is a graduate of Oklahoma State University with a bachelor of science degree and is a graduate of Texas Tech University with a masters degree in business administration. Sandy is semi-retired and is the co-owner of Lubbock Fastener Supply, K and S Tractor Sales and TEK Properties. Other professional experience includes president and CEO of Bigham Brothers, Inc. Sandy is a former board member of the Farm Equipment Manufacturers Association, Southern Farm Equipment Manufacturers Association, National Association of Manufacturers, Texas Association of Business, National Association of Purchasing Managers, Texas Association of Business and Lubbock Museum of Agriculture. Sandy stated that he was raised in a small Texas panhandle town by a farming and ranching family that instilled the Texas rural sense of duty, patriotism and work ethic. Sandy states that he has experience in all aspects of farm and ranch operations along with many years of experience in manufacturing, customer service, personnel, insurance, finance and all other things required to successfully operate businesses. He also stated that he has experience serving on both industry service and business boards which would give him a head start in being able to contribute to the activities of the SPEC board. Sandy is married to Suzanne, and they have five children and five grandchildren. The Kimballs are lifelong members of the Methodist Church.

DeWayne McCallister - District 7 Nominee

DeWayne McCallister, from Slaton, graduated from Roosevelt High School and is a graduate of Texas Tech University with a bacheors of science degree in animal business. He was a member of Texas Tech University Block and Bridal and a member of the Texas Tech University Rodeo Association where he received the Tunnell Award. DeWayne is an insurance agent, farmer and cattleman. DeWayne has served as a member and president of the Roosevelt ISD School Board, factory representative of Sooner Trailer, Roosevelt Stock Show Board and FCCLA State Board. He is a member of the Roosevelt Volunteer Fire Department and is the swine and steer superintendent of the Lubbock County Stock Show. DeWayne’s father served on the South Plains Electric Cooperative board for 55 years. He has always known the value in a co-op and what it offers to members. DeWayne represented SPEC in Washington, D.C., while attending the Youth Tour when he was a teenager. He states that serving on a number of boards has given him extensive experience in dealing with the public. He has knowledge in parliamentary law and how meetings are conducted regarding by-laws. DeWayne enjoys being a voice to help people understand questions they have on matters that affect their day-to-day lives. DeWayne is married to Tracye, and they have two sons and three grandchildren. The McCallisters are members of the Canyon Methodist Church.

Brent Whitaker - District 12 Nominee

Brent Whitaker, from Childress, graduated from Motley County High School and attended South Plains College. He has served as the president and owner/operator of Texas Panhandle Construction for 14 years. He has had other start up businesses with his sons, Dusty and David. He has been in the construction business since 2002. He began drilling water wells for farmers and ranchers in 2009. Brent has served on the South Plains Electric Cooperative Board for four years. He also serves as the president of the Gateway Groundwater Conservation District and has been actively on their board since 2014. Brent also served two years with the Motley County Soil and Water Conservation District. Brent is married to Teresa, and they have two sons, Dusty and David. Dusty is married to Lindsey Bruce and David is married to Amy Inman, both of Childress. Their life is filled with six grandchildren, Axle, Kolt, Rebekah, Kage, Kitt and Shiloh. Brent and Teresa have been members of the Childress Church of Christ.
