South Plains Electric Cooperative is committed to the communities it serves. Operation Round Up is an innovative program in which Cooperative members help to provide funding for people and projects in our local communities.
As a Cooperative member, you can automatically round up your monthly electric bill to the nearest dollar in which the extra cents collected will be contributed to Operation Round Up. In 2022, the Operation Round Up Board of Directors awarded a total of $19,500 in grants to 13 local organizations.
Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Southwest was awarded a $1,500 Community Grant from Operation Round Up. RMHC provides families with the resources and stability needed to keep their children happy and healthy during times of illness or injury. There is undeniable uncertainty, confusion, and fear associated with having a sick child. This is where RMHC comes to the rescue.
RMHC used their Community Grant to update two of their on-site storage sheds. The funds were needed to weatherproof and seal the sheds from dust, pests, and other natural conditions. The insides of the sheds were finished, and shelves were built so all donated items are kept neatly stored and safe until they are needed. The donated items are precious valuables to the community served by RMHC, so their protection is crucial.
